Everyone's Reading Everyone's Reading 2010 February 15 – April 28, 2010 Everyone’s Reading is a community wide reading program sponsored by Metro Detroit public libraries in Oakland and Wayne counties. Everyone’s reading promotes community dialogue through the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book. Additional programming, related to issues and topics in the selected book, is offered to enhance the reading experience.
This year’s Everyone’s Reading selection is Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow. Please join us by checking out a copy of the book and participating in our upcoming programs. You may also enter our drawing for tickets to the author appearance to hear Scott Turow speak about his life and his award winning work.

Taking the Mystery Out of the Polygraph Test -- HFCL Auditorium Wednesday, March 10, 2010, 7:00 pm You hear about lie detector tests all the time in police investigations, and in some instances a person applying for a job may even have to undergo a polygraph test. The term “polygraph” literally means “many writings” and the name refers to the manner in which selected physiological activities are simultaneously recorded.
Lt. Neil S. Myres from the Investigative Division of the Dearborn Police Department will discuss current issues and technological advances in the fascinating field of Forensic Psychophysiology and polygraph testing.

Drop-In Bookmark Contest Workshop -- Snow Branch Library Monday, March 15, 6:00-7:30pm Grades 1-5 No Registration Necessary Calling all artists! Come armed with your ideas and we'll supply the materials for you to create an original 8-1/2" x 2" black and white design to submit to the Dearborn Public Library's Annual Bookmark Contest. Contestants must be Dearborn residents or attend a Dearborn school. Limit one entry per child.

Clover Contest -- Esper Branch Library Entire Month of March. All Ages No Registration Necessary Clovers will be all over the entire library. Guess/count them and the closest one will win a prize. All month, all ages, no registration.

March is Youth Art Month -- HFCL Children's All Ages Bring in your art work or your hand made craft to display in the library. Entries will be accepted Monday, March 1 -- March 6. Work will be on display Monday, March 8--Wednesday, March 31.

Pennies for Peace -- Esper Branch Library March and April 2010 The Pennies for Peace program is designed not only to help foster literacy abroad but also to educate U.S. students about the world. A penny by itself may not seem like much, but thousands of pennies are building schools and teaching children to read in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pennies will be collected during the months of March and April at the Esper Branch Library in order to promote reading, literacy, and peace.
